Pru Goward
Shadow Minister for Climate Change and Environment, Shadow Minster for Women, Liberal Party of Australia (NSW Division)
Profile
Pru Goward served as Executive Director of the Office of the Status of Women from 1997-2001. In July 2001, she became the Federal Sex Discrimination Commissioner, appointed for a term of five years. In 2004, she was also appointed Commissioner Responsible for Age Discrimination. Pru stood successfully as a candidate for the Liberal Party of Australia in the seat of Goulburn in the Legislative Assembly at the New South Wales state election in 2007. Pru was awarded a Centenary Medal in 2001 for her service to journalism and women’s rights.

Professor Graeme Hugo

Profile
Graeme Hugo is a University Professorial Research Fellow, Professor of Geography, and Director of the National Centre for Social Applications of Geographical Information Systems at the University of Adelaide. He is the author of over two hundred books, articles in scholarly journals and chapters in books, as well as a large number of conference papers and reports. In 2002, he secured a $1.125 million ARC Federation Fellowship over five years for his research project, “The new paradigm of international migration to and from Australia: dimensions, causes and implications”.

Elizabeth Broderick

Profile
Elizabeth was appointed to the role of Sex Discrimination Commissioner and Commissioner responsible for Age Discrimination in September 2007.
With a background in law and computer science, Liz was a partner at Blake Dawson Waldron where she developed the firm's business case for flexibility in the workplace. Her efforts created a workplace where more than 20 percent of the law firm’s workforce now use flexible arrangements.
She has also been recognised as a leader in the business sector, being awarded the 2001/2002 Telstra Business Woman of the Year and Australia Corporate Business Woman of the Year.
She lives in Sydney with her husband and two young children.

Prior to her current role with the Metropolitan Fire and Emergency Services Board, Dalal Smiley served as Commissioner on the Victorian Multicultural Commission from 2001 to 2005, and is founder of the Victorian Arabic Social Services, which she chaired between 1998 and 2005. Dalal is passionate about human rights, social justice and community activism. |
